American Made Swedish Modern Glass Big Bird Figurine
Solid glass 4.25 lb stylized bird. In the Swedish Modern fashion, very popular in the 1950s. Anything “Swedish” was adored by the Americans during the mid-century years. Made by Pilgrim Art Glass, in America. From Pilgrim’s “Swedish Modern” line of the 1950s – 1960s.
Made in cased glass using amber stained glass and a layer of clear glass and then hand-working the glass into the object shape. The clear glass eyes and beak are applied. The flat seat has bottom-wear (tiny scratches on the seat occurring from years of surface contact). Glass has a few random air bubbles trapped inside and has evidence of hand-working. Dark spots in images are from the light reflection from the flat base.
