Mid 20th century elegant shouldered black amethyst vase with removable arranging frog.
Beautiful black amethyst vase made by Cambridge Glass in the 1930’s – 1950’s. Cambridge Glass was an elegant maker chartered in 1901 in Ohio, U.S.A., and closed it furnaces in 1958.
Cambridge called this color “Ebony”. It’s a deep black amethyst that shows glints of purple when held close to a bright light. Elegant shouldered black amethyst vase was hand-blown from mold. The Depression glass flower frog arranger sits well atop the vase, but is not original to the vase. The frog arranger has 11 holes to hold flower stems.
Perfect vase to display your flowers and foliage. The flower frog makes it easy to arrange the stems. The shouldered form allows plenty of room for the immersed stems. The vintage black amethyst glass is quality. Has some scratches on it’s bottom from sitting on a surface for over 50 years. The tiny scratches are called “bottom-wear” and is expected on old glass. In excellent condition.
Measures 7.5″ tall, 6″ wide from shoulder to shoulder with a girth of 19″. Vase opening is 3.75″ wide tapering to 3.5″ and flower frog is 3.5″ wide.
